Today I visited Aarey milk colony the place nearby my location for washing my bike, I found small water Rivers where these fishes where in plenty in number. When I walk through in that water, the fishes accumulated and started tickling my bare foot. The local people call those fish as “Kateri macchi”.
Amazing behavior these fishes have.
Why do they tickle the feet?
I think to feed on the dead cells of upper layer of skin
Are they fish or tadpoles?
Are they really feeding on dead cells? why will they feed on something which is dead? are they scavengers? or do they have tendency to tickle anything dipped in water?
Why do these fishes only behave this way?
usually the animals have liking towards Salt. Aren’t this one of the method to extract salt for the body…??
No, they were not tadpoles , they were fish
The genus Garra rufa they feed on the stratum corneum skin layer of patients with psoriasis.from wiki
If I confirm that this fish were aslo Garra rufa which, stuck to the skin smiliar to Garra rufa
what is the feeding habit of these fishes? what is there habitat? why they feed on the dead cells @mandar
If I confirm what type of fish it was then I can conclude weather they were really feeding on dead cells or not.
The above video was taken in my aquarium.
