Caenorhabditis.elegans

Yesterday i.e 17/6/19 in cube causerie many teachers from different institutions and some foreigners joined causerie held in cube lab. There was discussion on Galapagos islands and change in phenotype in organism belonging to same species radiated into different sub species due to geographical isolation between these islands .And similar environment can be observed in pagalapos . And there arouse a question that how evolution in organism is related to genetics of the organism.
And there was even discussion on their encounter of Oschius tipulae while searching C.elegans ,their identification.

@Mahalaxmi_Pillai Were there any questions asked by diverse audience from different backgrounds? What were they?

Yes. I am also interested to know. I missed this important meeting.

The question which some of the teachers asked and we couldn’t clear it well.
What exactly is your question? Do you have any literature saying India has c elegans?

Sir there was discussion on the radiated population of finches on Galapagos island .the finches were of same species but due to their geographical isolation there was phenotypic change observed in these finches.so this is one type of adaptation shown by finches on Galapagos islands .so in causerie we were trying to find link between evolution due to geographical isolation of an organism and what genetic change will take place that leads to change in phenotype of same species due to isolated environment.

Do you think the change was only phenotypic? Could speciation happen without genotypic changes? How could only phenotype change without genotype? Sorry for too many questions!

We have literature stating that India don’t have c elegans which I have mentioned in the blog I wrote on Nematodes

Clear idea of the objective was presented and also described by me in the blog which states about our hypothesis as well

Ohh sorry I dint read the blog yet, I want to, but can you copy and paste the exact question addressed but the group and your hypothesis so we would understand here.

Instead of copy pasting, I suggest to quote. When you select a portion of a post, the platform presents a quote action. when you click on that, you will get in the composer the code to quote. which can use in other threads for citing/quoting portions from one place to another.

I don’t know how to quote but it is all mentioned in the blog can u tell me how to quote so that I can quote the objective from that post @jaikishan

Can you pls paste it here the objective?

It is simple. Select the part if the text, after selection you will see an action called “quite”. When you choose " quote" it will insert that in the composure. You can use that in the context of that topic, or at another place on the site., by pasting it, eg in a post at STEM chat.
